Vitae of Leo Platvoet name: Platvoet, Leonardus Hubertus Gerardus date of birth: 18 June 1951, in Bussum
(The Netherlands) education: University of Amsterdam, Master of Sociology (1977) WORK: 1999 - present: Member of the Dutch Senate Member of the committees on Home Affairs, European Affairs,
Foreign Affairs, and Defense. Vice-chair of my political group (GreenLeft). 2004 - present: member of the board of
Woonstichting De Key Woonstichting De Key is one of the biggest social housing
cooperatives in Amsterdam. 2003 – present: member of the Parliamentary Assemblee of
the Council of Europe Member of the committees on Monitoring, Migration,
Environment and Equal Rights. 1997-2003: author of the series Stappen
door de Nieuwe Stad On behalf of the city of Amsterdam I wrote a serie of eight
books on modern housing-architecture in Amsterdam: ‘Stappen door de Nieuwe
Stad’ (Stepping through the New City). 1997 - 2002: adviser stadsdeel
Oost/Watergraafsmeer ‘Stadsdeel Oost-Watergraafsmeer’ is one of the bigger
districts within Amsterdam. I was for four years adviser of the council of this
district. 1987 - 2001: author and editor travelguide
books Odyssee During this periode I wrote 15 travelguide books about
European destinations. 1996-1997: chairman a.i. stadsdeel
Amsterdam Watergraafsmeer Because of all kinds of political problems I was for this
period appointed as a chairman/troubleshooter of this district within Amsterdam. 1990 - 1994: member of the city council of
Amsterdam Leader of my political group (GreenLeft). Member of
committees on housing, budget, sport, media. 1989 - 1994: editor of
NovibNieuws NovibNieuws was a bi-monthly magazine of the Dutch NGO Novib
(now Oxfam/Novib). 1989-1990: chairman of the GreenLeft party During the founding of the GreenLeft party on the national
level I was the first chairman. 1988 - 1989:
member campaign-team Rainbow party European elections 1978 - 1987: member of the city council of
Bussum 1976 - 1988: writer and teacher at the
educational institute of the PSP (Pacifistic Socialist Party) |
